Clinic

Clinics that the club might host like new sailor training. Power boat operation. Capsized boat training.

Sunday, May 16th is a Race Practice day and Open House at QYC.

We need volunteers to help prep the club and greet prospective members, contact Rich and Pauline Mastronardi. And come practice with us so our guests see a busy club.

An on-the-water practice day is a great way to start the racing season, which begins on Wednesday evening. You will have a chance to practice starts and mark roundings. This practice is for beginners and experienced sailors. We’ll do a little bit of tacking practice and then run 3-minute start sequences, sail the course for 2 minutes and then do it again and again.

QYC Racing Clinic

We had a great Racing Clinic at the club today. Six boats showed up to practice starts, mark roundings and short races. What a difference practice makes! During the first few training starts almost everyone was stumbling along eight to ten boat lengths below the line and most showed up for the start as much as two minutes late. With encouragement to get to the line early and relax about being over early, we started to have a nice little fleet bunched around the committee boat end a minute before the horn and most everyone starting within 20 seconds.

Set Up a Time to Try a Laser

The QYC Laser fleet will soon have the club Lasers ready for the sailing season. QYC has four club owned Laser for use by the members.

Is Your Mooring Due For a Makeover?

If your existing mooring has been in use for a number of years or you are planning on assembling a new mooring, why not sign up for our mooring inspection and makeover clinic coming in April. Tentative date: Saturday, April 21. Since all club approved moorings need to be assembled for the specific conditions of our mooring area and must also be properly identified with the club member’s name for easy identification, any members with questions or concerns are encouraged to sign up for this informative workshop.
