NOR for May Madness Laser Regatta

QYC's May Madness Laser Regatta is open to all Laser Sailors in the area. This is one of the club's best attended regattas and always full of great sailors and good sailing.  If you are a new Laser racer, come join us! There is plenty of room and welcome for rusty and inexperienced racers to get their sea legs back, and lake sailing is a perfect place to build up your boat handling technique.

Chaos Cup Returns!

On October 18th 2008, The Quannapowitt Yacht Club (Fleet 187) had the pleasure of hosting its first annual “Chaos Cup” regatta in the Flying Scot.  Traditionally the regatta was hosted in the International 110 but due to a lack of interest in the International 110 fleet at QYC we decided to re-brand the regatta and sail in the Flying Scot.  The regatta was usually hosted on Columbus Day weekend but this year due to scheduling conflicts we pushed it out a week.

Chaos Cup Winners

Winners of the Chaos Cup between 1998 - 2003 are unknown. If you know the names of the Skipper, Crew, Boatname and number please contact the club with that information. The "Roaming" trophy has also gone missing. It was a long piece of stained wood with a pair of sunglasses affixed to the top of it and the winners names below. If you know who is in possession of it please contact the club. Your help is greatly appreciated.

May Brings Madness

Any lapse of concentration in a Laser regatta will throw racers up to their armpits in water trying to right their boats. So, it may seem silly to hold a regatta for these “wet” boats when the water is still cold enough to be painful, but most Laser sailors are willing to suffer for the satisfying speed a windy day can offer and a May regatta certainly offers the possibility of great winds, so the QYC May Madness Laser Regatta draws a crowd.

Victorious Blip

Last QYC Regatta of 2007 Approaching

Sad, but true, the end of the season is quickly approaching.  But that is no reason to not hit the water for one last regatta at QYC!  Every Laser sailor is welcome to attend the Last Blast Laser regatta Saturday October 13, 2007.  Each year the regatta grows in popularity.  You need to come because this may be the last one with a possiblity for good weather!

If you are a club member consider volunteering to help out and work down some volunteer hours.

Youth Sailing Program alumni, and club members, Josh Krepps and Nick Vardaro took first place at the 2007 USA Junior Olympic Festival in the 420 white fleet. The regatta was hosted by the Lincoln Maritime Center in Hingham Massachusetts. Winning this event qualifies them to race in the Orange Bowl Regatta in December at the Coral Ree Yacht Club in Florida. Family and friends are working to aquire the funds they need to make the trip.

About 8 teams associated the club and the QYC Youth Program also competed in the regatta.
