Club Opening & Storm Prepartions

Regardless of the weather people are always in great spirits during opening because they know that good weather and the upcoming sailing season are near. This years opening was no exception as the docks were put back in the water, the grounds were cleaned up, and parts of the clubhouse got fresh paint.

The anchor that holds the end of the middle dock, preventing it from swinging wildly, had lost its lines. Several attempts to hook onto it with a grappling hook were made to no avail. A member volunteered to snorkel around and find it. However, due to the frigid water was unable to hold onto the chain affixed to the anchor. Fortunately, another attempt to hook it by John Kerr and several other members was successful and they were able to secure the end of the dock.

One big concern of the day was a storm that was predicted for Sunday evening. High winds and heavy rain were in the forecast. Extra care was taken to make sure that everything was tied down, boats were put on moorings, and the docks where checked.
