Squall Hits Wednesday Night Sailors

Wednesday night sailors got more action than they bargained for this week when a sudden storm rolled through. Heavy rains and high winds knocked over four boats. The club mercury, and crew, were driven to the south end of the lake near the commons where it ran aground. The windsurfers took advantage of the high winds and were planing back and fourth across the lake.

Members Perform Well At Day Sailer NACR's

QYC members and 2006 Day Sailor National Champions, Mike and Eric McCaffrey performed incredibly well at this years 2007 Day Sailer Nationals. Tied point wise for first place they were edged out by Phil and Tami Root on the number of first places that they took. Eric McCaffrey also won the Day Sailor Junior national championships. Congratulations to both of them.

Flying Scot Centerboard Repair

If you own a boat somewhere along the way you will have to do some epoxy and fiber glass work. It is not hard but it does require some planning and patience. For a while I had known that the centerboard in my Flying Scot was a mess. It got to the point that I did not even sweat it when I heard it banging on rocks. Last fall I decided that it was time to make the necessary repairs on the board during the winter. In the following text I describe what it takes to repair the end of a Flying Scot centerboard but thes

Adult Sailing Lessons - Kicked Off

Tuesday Night, June 12, QYC's adult sailing program was kicked off. This year a large number of people signed up and a waiting list had to be formed! Tuesday afternoon there was some concern about the weather but as the day progressed the forecast improved and we ended up with a beautiful night for new sailors.

Last Open House This Weekend

The Last Open house of the summer is Saturday June 9th from 11am to 1pm. The open houses are a great way for everyone to meet potential members, current members, support the club, and promote Sailing.

Boat Storage Options Open Up

Members of the Laser fleet worked all day to complete construction of new laser racks.  The new racks will store both boat and dolly in a configuration that should make it a lot easier for members to access their rigs.  The new racks are also more visually appealing than the rusting metal racks that had reached the end of their operation life.

Don't Miss the Open House

This is just a reminder that there will be an Open House at QYC tomorrow night, Wednesday May 23, starting at 6:30. It is also the first race of the Spring Wednesday night racing series. If you could come down to the club and help out with the Open House that would be greatly appreciated. If your boat is in the water, please join us for this informal racing series.
It's a ton of fun!

Thank you and we hope to see you there.
